Rockets Trade Shane Battier, Aaron Brooks; Receive Hasheem Thabeet, Goran Dragic, Picks

I'm really going to miss Shane Battier.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Rockets decided to send Battier to his original team -- the Memphis Grizzlies -- in exchange for Hasheem Thabeet and a first-round pick.

This might be one of the first times that Daryl Morey has had to effectively settle for a lesser deal. Thabeet is the epitome of a project -- perhaps even rawer -- and the first-rounder, unless it comes from a third party, will likely be just outside the lottery. But who knows, perhaps Thabeet will somehow get it. We're going to have to be incredibly patient with him. Think Jordan Hill x1000. ( Read Aaron Brooks more... )

Suns Trade Goran Dragic For Aaron Brooks...Wow

Didn't see this coming and honestly not sure how I feel about it. Goran Dragic has not had a good season for sure but I still believe in his upside and while Aaron Brooks can score the ball, he's a horrible defender. Brooks is also a restricted free agent so he will need to be paid next year while Dragic had a team option on his contract for 2011-12.

Dragic is certainly a favorite of mine. I like his game and his make up but there's no doubt he took a big step back this season. The front office people that believed in him and brought him to the Suns are gone and over the past few weeks there were signs that the coaching staff was losing some faith in him. I still think he'll turn out fine and am not sure the Suns won't end up regretting this. ( Read Aaron Brooks more... )

NBA Trade Deadline: Houston Rockets' Aaron Brooks and Shane Battier Unloaded

The Houston Rockets were very busy at the trade deadline, addressing both concerns for the future as well as acquiring a center capable of filling the paint on the defensive end.

NBA Trade Rumors: Rockets, Blazers Discussed Aaron Brooks, Shane Battier, Marcus Camby

The Portland Trail Blazers and Houston Rockets discussed a trade that would send Aaron Brooks and Shane Battier to Portland for Marcus Camby with the trade deadline looming. According to a report from Marc Stein, the two teams were involved in trade talks, though it appears the deal is unlikely to happen. Brooks has seen his name show up in more than one trade rumor ahead of the deadline as the guard from Seattle was also linked to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Blazers have been busy this week, exploring trade options with both the Rockets and Charlotte Bobcats ahead of Thursday’s noon trade deadline. The deal with the Bobcats, which would have brought Gerald Wallace to Portland, stalled on Thursday after the Bobcats asked for Nicolas Batum. Andre Miller and Joel Przybilla were also involved in the Charlotte-Portland trade talks. ( Read Aaron Brooks more... )

Aaron Brooks Traded To Phoenix Suns At NBA Trade Deadline

It hasn’t been a good day for guards from the Seattle area. First, Nate Robinson was traded from the Boston Celtics to the Oklahoma City Thunder, a blow straight to the heart of Seattle fans. Aaron Brooks was next, heading to Phoenix to join the Suns, according to a report. In the trade, Phoenix sent Goran Dragic and a first-round pick to Houston for Brooks just as the trade deadline was passing.

Brooks had been rumored to be on the block as Houston shopped his services with the trade deadline looming. At one point, Brooks was rumored to be part of the Rockets talks with the Portland Trail Blazers, centered around Marcus Camby. In the end, though, it was the Phoenix Suns that pulled off the deal, enticing Houston and getting the trade in at the wire. ( Read Aaron Brooks more... )

NBA At 2: Brooks And The Wolves?

The Minnesota Timberwolves have been after Houston Rockets guard Aaron Brooks for months, but to this point the answer from Houston in all discussions regarding last season's Most Improved Player has been, essentially: Thanks for your interest, but no thanks.

Now, it seems, there is some traction in talks between the Timberwolves and Rockets, and a source close to the situation tells HOOPSWORLD that Minnesota is hopeful they can finally land their starting point guard of the future in Brooks. It's telling that Timberwolves GM David Kahn continues to make optimistic prognostications about Rubio's future in Minnesota, while working very diligently on a Plan B. ( Read Aaron Brooks more... )

NBA Trade Rumors: Jonny Flynn Could Head To Rockets For Aaron Brooks Or Jared Jeffries

The Houston Rockets appear to be getting closer to a trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves that would give them former lottery pick Jonny Flynn. The trade, as it stands right now, would send Aaron Brooks or Jared Jeffries to the Timberwolves in exchange for Flynn, with draft picks also possibly involved, according to CBS Sports' Ken Berger.

Flynn has been a disappointment in his two years in the NBA, and the Timberwolves appear to want to move on and admit they made a mistake picking him so high. Trading him for Brooks would provide an upgrade, though Brooks is an impending free agent. If Jeffries is involved, other players would probably have to be involved as well. NBA Trade Rumors: Aaron Brooks To the Wolves for Jonny Flynn?

ESPN's Marc Stein reported that there is a high chance that Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Jonny Flynn will be a Houston Rocket by the end of the day.

In acquiring Flynn, the Rockets would send the troubled Aaron Brooks packing.

Flynn, despite only playing 17 minutes per game this season, had a solid rookie season where he averaged 13 points and five assists for the Wolves. ( Read Aaron Brooks more... )

Rockets Trade Rumors: Gerald Wallace In Play Still, Aaron Brooks Unlikely To Be Traded For Marcus Camby

We’re in the last hour, and the rumors are starting to come fast and furious.

The big news is that Gerald Wallace, who was once thought to be all but a Portland Trailblazer, is still sitting around in Charlotte. The Rockets, according to CBS’ Ken Berger, are “chomping at the bit” to make a deal, and have offered a package based around Shane Battier. However, Berger considers it likely that Wallace will remain with the Bobcats following a case of cold feet by Michael Jordan. ( Read Aaron Brooks more... )
