Murfreesboro Suspect In Custody After Shooting At MTSU

Police have taken into custody a man suspected in a shooting Monday morning on the Middle Tennessee State University campus in Murfreesboro, the Daily News Journal first reported.

The suspect was apprehended Monday afternoon after police began a search for a black male wearing a tan hat, plaid shirt, blue jeans and black backpack after a shooting at the school's Business and Aerospace Building at about 11:30 a.m., according to the report. ( Read MTSU more... )

Update: MTSU on lockdown after shooting

Murfreesboro City Police apprehended the suspect wanted in connection with this morning’s shooting at MTSU’s Business and Aerospace Building, university President Sidney McPhee said.

“However, we are asking that the university community remain in place and remain cautious until we send out a further notice. I will provide more information to you as it becomes available,” he said.

The identity of the shooter has not been released yet.

MTSU was placed on lockdown Monday morning after one person was shot in the finger with the handgun and sustained non-life threatening injuries. According to the first alert sent by MTSU, two men were arguing when one man pulled a handgun and shot the other in the hand. ( Read MTSU more... )

Suspect in custody in MTSU shooting

Police had a suspect in custody this afternoon in relation to the late-morning shooting at MTSU's Business and Aerospace Building. However, a search continued, apparently for the weapon.

According to the Daily News Journal, one subject had been shot in the finger and no life-threatening injuries were involved. ( Read MTSU more... )

Man In Custody After Shooting On MTSU Campus

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Police have taken into custody a man suspected in a shooting Monday morning on the Middle Tennessee State University campus. He was apprehended Monday afternoon.

Police were searching for a black male wearing a tan hat, plaid shirt, blue jeans and black backpack after a shooting at the school's Business and Aerospace Building at about 11:30 a.m., according to a report by the Daily News Journal.

An argument between two men near the building resulted in one man pulling out a gun and shooting the other in the hand, according to an alert issued by the school. The school said the injury was not life-threatening. ( Read MTSU more... )
