Utah Jazz
Jerry Sloan Set To Resign As Utah Jazz Coach

Former Evansville Purple Ace Jerry Sloan is reportedly stepping down as coach of the Utah Jazz in the midst of his 23rd season with the Jazz.

I don't ever expect to hear it from Sloan, but obviously something happened with management between the time he signed a one-year contract extension on Monday and the extended emergency meeting immediately after the Jazz lost to the Chicago Bulls last night. I'm assuming there was more involved than frustration over former Jazz players Carlos Boozer, Kyle Korver and C.J. Watson helping the Bulls beat the Jazz, but I'm sure that didn't help. Jerry Sloan
SALT LAKE CITY — Hall of Famer Jerry Sloan is stepping down after 23 years and 1,127 wins as head coach of the Utah Jazz.

Fan reaction: Rose outplays Williams, wills Bulls to win over Jazz

There were two matchups I was especially looking forward to on the Chicago Bulls' current five-game road trip: Derrick Rose(notes) against West All-Stars Deron Williams(notes) and Chris Paul(notes).

Rose outscored Williams 29-12 and showed off his speed with an impressive come-from-behind steal with 1:10 remaining and the Bulls up by one. Williams also had another turnover with the Bulls up seven seconds remaining and the Bulls up by three. ( Read Utah Jazz more... )

Sloan Resigning After Clash With Williams | Yahoo! Sports

The story is careful to state that his resignation is from his status as "head coach," but based on the context, Jerry Sloan may be leaving the team completely. The reports that are coming now describe how the snap decision may have grown directly out of his disillusionment with Deron Williams and the team's handling of Williams' discontent. Utah Jazz notebook: Mehmet Okur out at least three weeks

SALT LAKE CITY — Mehmet Okur's injury-plagued season is awhile from taking a turn for the better.

It was decided on Wednesday that Okur will miss at least the next three weeks because of his strained lower back.

That decision came after Okur visited a Salt Lake City-based back specialist, Dr. Graham Hill, who confirmed that Memo has inflammation of his chronic disc problem. ( Read Utah Jazz more... )
