Beale Street Music Festival: 2011 Lineup announced

Is this the biggest Beale Street Music Festival line-up ever? The list of artists announced for the festival, a three-day party in Memphis beginning April 29, features four 2011 Grammy Winners and a wide range of cross-genre talent. This year's festival will have more pop and hip-hop tunes than ever before, while still maintaining the local flavor and blues talent that's a staple of the festival.

The Beale Street Music Festival‘s selling point remains simple: a genre-spanning lineup that won’t burn a hole in your pocket.

For example, the 2011 incarnation of the Memphis, TN-based festival features indie heavyweights The Flamings Lips, Wilco, and MGMT paired alongside mainstream fare like Stone Temple Pilots, Ke$ha, and John Mellencamp. It's being heralded by Memphis in May as "the biggest lineup ever." At the very least, it's certainly one of the most interesting and most contemporary lineups in a long time, blending the familiar mix of strong local, blues, jam-rock, and hard-rock acts with a better-than-usual blend of contemporary hip-hop/pop (Ludacris, Ke$ha) and alt/indie/roots-rock acts (Wilco, MGMT). 'Strong lineup' announced for Beale Street Music Fest

It’s official: John Mellencamp, Wilco, Stone Temple Pilots, Flaming Lips, Ke$ha, Godsmack, Cee Lo Green, Macy Gray, Ludacris, Jason Mraz, Gregg Allman, Lucinda Williams, Sublime with Rome, Ziggy Marley, Charlie Wilson and Hinder are set to play the 2011 Beale Street Music Festival.
