PBS KIDS to Celebrate Dr. Seuss’ Birthday With New Episodes

PBS KIDS will celebrate Dr. Seuss’ 107th birthday on Wednesday, March 2 with two brand new episodes: “Incredible Journey/Bamboozled” and “Teeny Weeny Adventure/I See Seeds,” part of THE CAT IN THE HAT KNOWS A LOT ABOUT THAT! series.

Born on March 2, 1904, Theodor Seuss Geisel, commonly known by his pen name Dr. Seuss, formulated witty rhymes, meaningful messages, and imaginative characters. His 44 published children’s books have drawn children to learn and love reading. ( Read Dr. Seuss more... )

What would childhood be without Dr. Seuss?

His books, filled with delightful rhymes and whimsical stories, have taught generations of children how to read and kept their parents entertained in the process. And on Wednesday, the nation will honor him by celebrating his birthday.

Seuss, who passed away in 1991, was born Theodor Seuss Geisel on March 2, 1904, and would have turned 107 this year. The National Education Association has designated March 2 "Read Across America," a day devoted to encouraging everyone to pick up a book. ( Read Dr. Seuss more... )

It’s Dr. Seuss week around here! Why? Well, Theodor Geisel, better known as the infamous Dr. Seuss was born on March 2nd back in 1904. To celebrate, I’ll be bringing you a bunch of fun in Seussville!

Seussville Gearing Up for Dr. Seuss’ Birthday

This Wednesday is the birthday of the great Dr. Seuss, and Seussville is gearing up for the red-letter day. The legendary children’s author would turn 107 if he were still around. And he would likely celebrate the occasion by composing a silly rhyme filled with the perfect blend of real words and made-up ones.

But it’s more than just his wacky rhymes that made Dr. Seuss the icon that he is. It’s also the appeal those rhymes have had upon generations and generations of young readers. There has never been anyone more influential for literary little ones than the great doctor. And there likely never will be. But why?

Schools celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday

School children across Sand Springs are preparing to celebrate the birthday of beloved children author Dr. Seuss.

His birthday, Wednesday, March 2, will be marked with parades, a poetry contest, pajama parties, and special guest readers.

Seuss wrote such classic rhyming stories as “Cat in the Hat,” Green Eggs and Ham,” and “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.”

Davenport Community Schools to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday

DAVENPORT -- Two Davenport elementary schools will hold special events commemorating Dr. Seuss' birthday, Wednesday, March 2.

Students at Monroe School will present "One Fish…Two Fish…Red Fish…Blue Fish" at 9 and 9:30 a.m. for parents and the community in the school auditorium, 1926 West Fourth St. , Davenport. The event will feature an onstage performance with audience participation in the form of an all-school read. The book's text will be projected on the auditorium screen and the audience will read aloud together as the performance unfolds. Students participating will range from preschool age through grade 5.
