Toyota Recalls 1.7 Million Vehicles Over Fuel Leaks

TOKYO — Toyota recalled nearly 1.7 million cars worldwide Wednesday for fuel leaks, the latest in a ballooning number of quality problems that could add another dent to its tarnished reputation in the crucial U.S. market.

Toyota's latest recalls are mostly in Japan, but they also include the IS and GS Lexus luxury models in North America, where the world's No. 1 automaker faces the biggest obstacles to winning back customer trust. ( Readmore... )

Toyota Recall List 2011: Models Affected by Fuel Leak Problem

It has just been revealed that car giants Toyota has announced another global recall, affecting around 1.7 million of their vehicles due to defects which could cause fuel leaks and other problems.

As reported from BBC News, most of the recalled models affect car owners in Japan, but Toyota are also recalling 421,000 outside of Japan, with 140,000 vehicles specifically linked to the Toyota Avensis model. ( Readmore... )

Huge New Toyota Recall Includes 245,000 Lexus GS, IS Sedans

It appears that the worst of Toyota's recall woes might not yet be past. The world's largest automaker confirmed plans today to recall nearly 1.4 million vehicles globally, for issues including oil leaks, faulty fuel pumps, and fuel lines.

The number includes about 245,000 Lexus IS and GS models in the U.S. market for the fuel issue; the remainder concern oil leaks on the Japan-market Toyota Noah, Voxy, and Isis minivans, plus about 140,000 Toyota Avensis models in other international markets, produced between May 2000 and October 2008. Toyota owners around the globe find themselves, once again, questioniong whether their car is safe. Lexus Recall Drags Toyota and the Nikkei Lower

Shares were mixed in Asia Wednesday. In Japan the Nikkei 225 Index sank 0.6% to 10,402, while in China the Shanghai Composite Index gained 1.2% to close at 2,709. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index inched up 0.2% to end the day at 23,843. ( Readmore... )

Toyota shares drop after global vehicle recall

The recall, reportedly the first by Toyota since October, applied to nearly 1.3 million vehicles in Japan, mainly for models of its Noah minivan manufactured between 2000 and 2008.
