Big Day Out 2011 line-up

Big Day Out 2011There have been legitimate clues, dodgy rumours and a many an uncalculated bet, but finally the time has come to reveal the official 2011 Big Day Out line-up.

Australia’s biggest festival will be celebrating its 18th Birthday with a mammoth bill come January, headed up none other than Mr Maynard James Keenan and his band of merry men Tool. Fresh from the studio where they are recording their fifth studio album, the Californian prog-rockers are set to bring their spectacular live show (lazers and all) down under next year for the first time in over four years.

Making just as much noise but with slightly more fire will be the band that made 2009 the year of X-rated videos and souvenir dildo box sets, Rammstein. Returning exactly a decade after their last BDO outing, the German industrial kings are set to strap-on and plug-in when they reach our shores in January.

Speaking of iconic Big Day Out moments, are you sick of hearing your mates go on about dancing on stage with the Godfather of punk way back in 2006? Well, you will finally have the chance to be Iggy’s dog when Iggy Pop and The Stooges bring their Raw Power back to Australia next year.

But wait, there is so much more. Keeping the controversy coming at BDO 2011 will be ranga-lover M.I.A, the man that likes to party more than Kiss, Andrew WK and the guy that said he would never be back James Murphy with LCD Soundsytem

For the first time in the festival’s eighteen year history, FasterLouder and our sister site inthemix are pleased as punch to be the online media partner’s of the Big Day Out. So once you have checked out the full line-up below, make sure you stay tuned to FL for all the BDO news, reviews, photos, interviews and goss you could possibly handle.
