Celtics Trade, Kendrick Perkins
Marquis Daniels Won't Veto Celtics' Trade With Kings, Agent Says

Marquis Daniels could have vetoed the Boston Celtics' trade with the Sacramento Kings sending the wing to the West Coast. But according to A. Sherrod Blakely of CSN New England, Daniels' agent Mark Bartelstein said his client won't do that, allowing the deal to go through and the Celtics to reap the luxury tax rewards.

The move also opens up a roster spot for the Celtics, who would reportedly like to sign Troy Murphy and another player. The Celtics traded Kendrick Perkins to the Oklahoma City Thunder, getting Jeff Green, a natural small forward who played power forward in OKC, and big man Nenad Krstic back. Boston also unloaded big men Semih Erden and Luke Harangody in a deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers to open up roster spots and decrease luxury tax payments. ( Read Celtics Trade more... )

Celtics stun NBA, trade Kendrick Perkins

In moves that shook up the entire NBA, the Celtics pulled off three deadline deals that will affect them now and in the future. According to a source, team president Danny Ainge traded Kendrick Perkins and Nate Robinson to Oklahoma City for forward Jeff Green and center Nenad Krstic.

In a separate deal, the Celtics also dealt rookies Luke Harangody and Semih Erden for a second-round draft pick. That deal is about clearing roster space for veteran free agents who are expected to be bought out of their contracts, most notably Troy Murphy. The Celtics also reportedly traded Marquis Daniels to Sacramento for cash. ( Read Celtics Trade more... )

Celtics trade Erden, Harangody for pick

It's not as significant a move as the trade they made with Oklahoma City, but the Celtics reportedly sent Semih Erden and Luke Harangody to the Cavaliers in exchange for a second-round pick, according to Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The move appears to be motivated by roster size. With Erden and Harangody now in Cleveland, the Celtics have room to sign any players that are bought out in the coming days. Potential candidates include Richard Hamilton, Troy Murphy (just traded from New Jersey to Golden State) and perhaps Joel Przybilla (traded today to Charlotte from Portland). After Trade Deadline, Celtics May Add Warriors F Troy Murphy

Troy Murphy is still a member of the Golden State Warriors, but with a buyout expected soon, he'll be free to sign anywhere in the NBA, and it looks like he could be headed for the Boston Celtics.

Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix has already speculated that the Celtics will be going after him, and notes that Troy Murphy has wanted to come to Boston for his entire career. And it would be kind of perfect, wouldn't it? It was a joke when I asked if the Celtics could replace Luke Harangody with Brian Scalabrine, but in all seriousness, it would be absolutely fantastic if Troy Murphy took his place. Celtics Trade Marquis Daniels To Kings For Cash

The flurry of Celtics moves at the NBA trade deadline continued Thursday afternoon when Boston sent Marquis Daniels to the Sacramento Kings in exchange for cash, this according to CBS' Ken Berger. Daniels has not played since Feb. 6, when he suffered a bruised spinal cord, and it's growing more and more likely that he will miss the remainder of the season.

As a player on a one-year deal with early Bird rights at stake, Daniels has the option to veto any trade, so basically he needs to decide if he wants to watch a playoff run with Boston or putz around with the Kings. For Sacramento, the move gets them above the league's salary floor, which is set at 75 percent of the salary cap. ( Read Celtics Trade more... )
