A SHUTTLE bus running between the airport and downtown Changsha, capital of Hunan Province, caught fire yesterday, killing two people and injuring 10, the official Xinhua News Agency said, quoting police.
An explosion was suspected of starting the fire, reports said.
The incident happened at 4 p.m. when the bus was traveling on the airport expressway, China News Service said. Two passengers died instantly and at least 10 were injured, including two seriously.
One of the survivors surnamed Wang said he saw a young man use a cigarette lighter to ignite a bag that smelled of gasoline before the explosion, according to a report on Sohu.com.
Pictures posted on the China News Service Web site showed the gutted frame of a large bus, sitting in the middle of a motorway.
No further details were immediately available.
