Legendary American folk singer Arlo Guthrie is performing in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade in New York City today.
The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is in 84th year and is seen by over 3.5 million people in New York City and more than 50 million more by television, according to the parade's official website.
He says it's the first time in years he's been in a parade.
Normally he and his family host the free Thanksgiving Dinner That Couldn't Be Beat at the Guthrie Center in Great Barrington, Mass.
The dinner will go on without him. Guthrie says because of his song "Alice's Restaurant," he and Thanksgiving are "glued together" as "one of those unintentional accidents of nature."
