Idaho Road Conditions - A blizzard warning throughout much of the Inland Northwest is having a huge impact on roads.
The snow is very powdery but the big issue is a layer of compact snow and ice on the road that is making for slick conditions.
Washington State Patrol has been very busy tonight responding to several slide offs and a few crashes along Interstate 90 all the way to the Idaho border.
retty OK. I actually hate driving in this worse than driving in snow, because of the unpredictability. It’s usually hovering just at or below freezing, you never know where there’s going to be something that’s *actually* frozen, and managing the endless road splatter on the windshield drives me nuts.
But I am most definitely counting my blessings.
This morning, ongoing blizzard conditions closed I 15 between Idaho Falls and Montana, U.S. 26 between Ririe and Swan Valley, U.S. 20 between Ashton and Montana and between Idaho Falls and the junction of U.S. 20 and 26 at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) puzzle, Idaho 33 between Arco and Rexburg, Idaho 22 between Dubois and its junction with Idaho 33, Idaho 87 between Henry's Lake and Montana, U.S. 93 between Mackay and Challis (just reopened), and Idaho 29 between Leadore and Montana.
