Black Eyed Peas halftime show - not too impressive during 2011 Super Bowl
Will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas told SPIN magazine that the intention of performing at the 2011 Super Bowl wasn't to win a new fan with "your grandmother." That's an accurate statement.
Unless you're a serious hip-hop fan, the Black Eyed Peas weren't the best entertainment choice for the Super Bowl. If you like a lot of lights and special effects, then you may have been able to tolerate it. Stage setup behind the actual performance deserved more credit than the entertainers, with exception to the backup dancers. Costumes were futuristic in design and slick with black colors. Superbowl XLV halftime show featuring The Black Eyed Peas
In case you have been living in a cave somewhere, I will let you know that the Superbowl was broadcast today, with The Black Eyed Peas doing the majority of the halftime show. Since Usher only dropped by for a short while, most of this review will be concerning the Black Eyed Peas. I will say that Usher did a good job for the short time he was on stage. His voice sounded good and he was an obvious crowd-pleaser.
When the show first started, The Black Eyed Peas sounded out of breath or maybe just nervous, because their voices were a little shaky. They were dressed in futuristic sci-fi looking outfits that reminded me a lot of the fashions from the new Tron movie. There was a sea of dancers surrounding the platform, which at first just seemed like dancers in white outfits, but when the group broke into their second song "Boom Boom Pow", the sea of background dancers suddenly lit up and formed arrows, reminding me a little of some of my favorite old Atari games. The scene definitely had a retro video game feel to it, at least in my opinion. ( Read Black Eyed Peas Halftime Show more... )
Black Eyed Peas, Slash, Usher Perform At Halftime Show
(Arlington, TX) -- The Black Eyed Peas threw one of the more energetic and relatively tame halftime shows at Super Bowl 45.
The band lowered to the ground from Cowboys Stadium giant video board singing their hit "I Gotta Feeling." The band wore black outfits that included flashing LED lights. They were surrounded by several hundred dancers wearing white, LED lit suits as well. Some of the dancers had lighted white cubes on their heads.
There was a big surprise for fans as famed guitarist Slash showed up to help Fergie sing the classic Guns 'N Roses song "Sweet Child O'Mine." ( Read Black Eyed Peas Halftime Show more... )
Black Eyed Peas Halftime Show Brings Sweet Child Of Mine To Super Bowl
This evening the Black Eyed Peas teamed up RnB singer Usher and rocker Slash to entertain the millions of people who tuned in to watch the Green Bay Packers beat the Pittsburgh Steelers by a score of 31-25 during the half time celebrations of Super Bowl 45th which was held at the Cowboys Stadium located in Arlington, Texas Sunday.
While Christina Aguilera missed few notes while singing the national anthem, the Peas composed of Will.i.am, Fergie, Taboo, and apl.de.ap were able to put on a fine show during the halftime with the help of some sparkly back up dancers.
The pop/urban group rocked the stage as they performed some of their hit songs which included “I Gotta Feeling,” “Boom Boom Pow,” “Pump It,” “Let’s Get It Started,” “Where Is the Love?” and “The Time (Dirty Bit).” ( Read Black Eyed Peas Halftime Show more... )
The Black Eyed Peas Halftime Show: What Did You Think?
The Black Eyed Peas didn't have any Christina Aguilera - like mistakes during their Super Bowl XLV performance.
Quite the opposite, in fact.
The quartet kicked off a medley with “I Got a Feeling,” before Fergie was joined by Slash to perform “Sweet Child O’ Mine.” From there, Usher swooped in for a rendition of “O.M.G.," only for the group to finish up on its own with “Where is the Love” and “The Time (Dirty Bit)." The former even included a plea to Obama... ( Read Black Eyed Peas Halftime Show more... )
The Black Eyed Peas Bring Pop Back to the Super Bowl in a Halftime Show Free of Controversy
The Black Eyed Peas had the privledge of being the first pop act since Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake's 2004's Nipplegate to grace the Super Bowl halftime spot. But they also had the disadvantage of being the first act not playing their own instruments and as a result, often came off muted following memories of Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, The Who and Prince. But fans on Twitter and Facebook were blaming that more on a faulty mix.
Fergie and will.i.am. kicked off the elaborate show with 'I Gotta Feeling' and as the medley went on to 'Boom Boom Pow,' the field at Cowboys Stadium became crowded with glowing dancers. The amount of performers made the show feel almost like an Olympics opening ceremony. ( Read Black Eyed Peas Halftime Show more... )
