Christina Aguilera botches national anthem at Super Bowl
By Jen Chaney
Christina Aguilera hit all the right notes during her pre-Super Bowl performance of the national anthem. But the right lyrics? Not so much.
Aguilera completely dissed both the ramparts and the fact that they were gallantly streaming by skipping that line entirely, instead singing: "What so proudly we watched at the twilight's last gleaming." That was a pseudo-repeat of the earlier lyric, "What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming." If you missed it, catch the moment via the video below. ( Read Christina Aguilera more... )
Christina Aguilera Booed for Forgetting Lyrics, Lea Michele Applauded at Super Bowl
Christina Aguilera was left embarrassed when she messed up the lyrics of "The Star-Spangled Banner" during the live telecast of Super Bowl XLV. The five-time Grammy winner performed the song on Sunday, February 6 in front of thousands of sport mania at Cowboys Stadium in North Texas.
She did her own twist on the U.S. national anthem. She was supposed to sing "O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?" in the fourth line, but repeated the second line with a slight variation. From "What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?", she changed into "What so proudly we watched at the twilight's last gleaming?". ( Read Christina Aguilera more... )
Baltimore library reminds Christina Aguilera, patrons of anthem's words
Christina Aguilera's mangling of the national anthem at the start of Sunday's Super Bowl set social networks buzzing.
Among those tsk-tsking on Twitter was Baltimore's own Enoch Pratt Free Library, reminding patrons near and far that the correct words to the anthem can be found at a branch near you: "Need to know the lyrics to the Star-Spangled Banner? Come to the Pratt tomorrow. We'll have it for you plus loads of books about it."
After all, the anthem has a special place in Baltimore's heart: The roots to the song about the 1814 British attack on Fort McHenry were immortalized in the poem by Marylander Francis Scott Key. ( Read Christina Aguilera more... )

GRAMMY Award-winning singer Christina Aguilera has suffered the most embarrassing moment of her career by singing the wrong lyrics to the national anthem at the Super Bowl in Texas in a televised broadcast to millions.

Christina Aguilera Sings National Anthem At Super Bowl XLV
Pittsburgh native's performance followed 'Glee' star Lea Michele's rendition of 'America the Beautiful.'
As football fans gathered on Sunday night (February 6) to watch the match-up between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers at Super Bowl XLV, Christina Aguilera took to the stage to perform the national anthem. Moments earlier, "Glee" star Lea Michele performed "America the Beautiful" before kickoff in chilly Dallas.
Wearing her hair down and donning a black suit, Aguilera belted out the song as both the Terrible Towels and Cheese Heads counted down the moments until kickoff began. The Grammy winner got the crowd hyped as she hit the crescendos of the song, while celebrities and players looked on, many of the players nervously looking to the sky or holding back tears as they prepared to take the field. Christina Aguilera Botches The National Anthem Before the Super Bowl Kickoff
Christina Aguilera, always a pro singing the national anthem, couldn't make it through the Star Spangled Banner before the kickoff of Super Bowl XLV. Aguliera, who has handled the task without issue before NBA games, botched the lyrics badly halfway through the song.
Instead of "'O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming" turned into "what so proudly we watched at the twilight's last [unintelligable lyric]."
Luckily, Aguilera had the quick, crowd-rousing "rocket's red glare" line to follow it up, which she nailed and got the packed Cowboys Stadium quickly on her side. ( Read Christina Aguilera more... )
Christina Aguilera Fumbles Lyrics During National Anthem at Super Bowl
Words fail us.
As apparently they did Christina Aguilera, who followed Glee's Lea Michele's "America the Beautiful" by muffing the words to the "Star Spangled Banner" before the biggest audience in the world big game.
The offense? She replaced "o'er the ramparts we watched" with "what so proudly we watched," which you might have missed unless you were checking your Twitter account or are really good with the lyrics.
To be fair, it's a stressful gig, a difficult song and, frankly, hard to tell exactly what the heck she was singing in some of the showier parts, but let's cut her some slack, huh? At least it was better than Roseanne's back in the day, right? ( Read Christina Aguilera more... )
Super Bowl Music: BEP Rock Halftime, Xtina Flubs National Anthem

Earlier in the night, Christina Aguilera mangled her attempt to sing the national anthem, forgetting a piece of the lyrics and replacing it by repeating another part of the song.
With the Green Bay Packers leading the Pittsburgh Steelers 21-10 at the game's half-way mark, the Peas descended from the scoreboard onto the mid-field stage. ( Read Christina Aguilera more... )
Super Bowl: Christina Aguilera National Anthem Flub, Black Eyed Peas Halftime Show
Highlights of the Super Bowl XLV for the non-football fan include Christina Aguilera’s flub of the national anthem and the Black Eyed Peas halftime show. Neither of these musical performances were good!
First, Christina Aguilera messed up the national anthem…the words to the national anthem. The Star-Spangled Banner is a difficult song to sing, with its broad range and high notes. It’s a tough song to sing but most singers have a problem with singing the song—not remembering the words to the song. OUCH.
The Black Eyed Peas performed during the Super Bowl Half Time Show. The halftime show got very mixed reviews due to the lack luster performance of the band and the issues with the sound quality. ( Read Christina Aguilera more... )
Black Eyed Peas deliver "Tron"-themed Bowl show
NEW YORK (Billboard) - The Black Eyed Peas blasted through a 10-minute Super Bowl halftime show Sunday, playing their biggest hits with a little help from Usher, Slash and hundreds of "Tron"-inspired dancers even as technical glitches intermittently marred the performance.
With the Green Bay Packers leading the Pittsburgh Steelers 21-10 ahead of an eventual 31-25 victory, will.i.am, Fergie, apl.de.ap and Taboo made a lofty entrance into the Dallas Cowboys Stadium, lowering themselves onto a green-lit stage to the sounds of "I Gotta Feeling," the No. 1 smash from their 2009 album "The E.N.D."
Sound issues silenced Fergie's first lines and would surface again later, but the Peas' intensity never dropped, thanks in large part to a supporting cast of enthusiastic young dancers. ( Read Christina Aguilera more... )
Super Bowl XLV: 'Glee's' Lea Michele, Christina Aguilera perform
To kick things off for Super Bowl XLV Sunday night, we had a pair of star-studded performs take the field in Dallas -- "Glee" star Lea Michele and Christina Aguilera.
In the case of Michele, we had a performer stepping out onto the biggest stage in the world and doing a solid job with "America the Beautiful." She sounded a bit nervous at times, but overall she has to be proud with her performance of a song that not too many people have been able to master over the years. (It was also a solid marketing move by Fox since "Glee" is airing after the game.) ( Read Christina Aguilera more... )
Super Bowl XLV: 2011 Kickoff Time, National Anthem, Half Time Show
Super Bowl XLV is just around the corner and we have info on the kickoff time, national anthem and the half time show.
Super Bowl 2011 kickoff time is 6:30|5:30c in Dallas, Texas on FOX. Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers will take on Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. Before the big game begins, Christina Aguilera will take the field to sing the national anthem. Once the game begins we will be treated with a musical spectacle at the half. Fergie and the Black Eyed Peas will take center stage as the NFL lifts the anti-woman half time show ban. Will be see another wardrobe malfunction?
I am actually looking forward to Christina Aguilera singing the national anthem at Super Bowl XLV. Aguilera is one of the few singers in the music industry who has an amazing voice and I think she is a perfect fit to kick off the Super Bowl. I am not sure I agree with the half time show performers but that’s just because I think the Black Eyed Peas are horrible. Maybe we will get lucky and see Fergie get nude or pee her pants again.
