From Rae Abileah for Code Pink and others
Human rights activists with CODEPINK, including Sharat Lin of Fremont, CA, joined Egyptian protesters this week in Cairo as perhaps the only international solidarity delegation on the ground in the country. They have been in the streets with the Egyptian people for the last five days.
Several members of the group of nine activists are available by phone for interviews this week. Tomorrow the delegation plans to do a solidarity action at the US Embassy. Medea Benjamin, a leader of the delegation and co-founder of CODEPINK Women for Peace, is currently available by cell phone in Cairo at 011 20-107148431. Sharat Lin is the president of the San Jose Peace and Justice Center and first visited Gaza and the region in 1973. He will return to the Bay Area by the end of the week. Bay Area groups are planning a protest and march to stand in solidarity with the people of Egypt and Tunisia this Saturday, February 5th at 1 pm at the UN Plaza (Market and 8th in San Francisco), and a march across the Golden Gate Bridge on Sunday, February 13. Obama, Code Pink and Egypt: ‘There Are No Coincidences in Politics’
As the cliche goes, there are no coincidences in politics. Obama fundraiser group Code Pink just happened to have arrived in Cairo last week for the group’s ninth visit there in two years as part of its campaign to undermine the Mubarak government and help Hamas, the terrorist group that controls Gaza.
Code Pink and the media are trying to portray the leftist group’s “sudden” appearance in Cairo Wednesday as an act of courageous support for a democratic revolution. Nothing could be further from the truth. ( Read Code Pink more... )
Code Pink's Medea Benjamin reports from Cairo's Tahrir Square: "It turned ..into a war zone"
Code Pink co-founder Medea Benjamin Wednesday headed up a dozen Code Pink banner-bearing activists in Cairo's Tahrir Square -- a scene she said descended into a bloody "war zone" as "government thugs" battled pro-democracy demonstrators.
But Benjamin told us by cell phone just minutes also that while the government of Egyptian leader Hosni Mubarak government has now signalled it will "go down kicking and screaming,'' pro-democracy protesters are fully determined and "ready to die here."
We caught Benjamin just after midnight Egyptian time as she retreated from the embattled square in Cairo -- in a country where Internet coverage is just returning after days of blackout. Benjamin, a longtime Bay Area progessive activist, has been in the region since Monday with Code Pink and said the lack of Internet connection has been frustrating. ( Read Code Pink more... )
The Muslim Brotherhood of the Traveling Code Pink Pants
Code Pink, notorious anti-war movement prone to juvenile acts of vandalism, is at it again. Only this time, they’re in Egypt.
Here at NRB, it’s part of the mission to demonstrate the connections between the Left and the Islamofascists they so clearly admire. Normally, it takes a little more effort than today’s glaring example. If you’ve never heard of Code Pink, let me enlighten you. Operating under an “anti-war womyn’s movement,” Code Pink has taken every opportunity available to betray their country, put our soldiers in danger, support terrorists and make asses out of themselves. Code pink: Notes of love cover flashy squad car
WEST PALM BEACH — Unmarked cars, these weren't. Perhaps the most curious sights at Saturday morning's 20th annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure were two police vehicles parked near the finish line.
Looking for speeders? Not quite.
They were two pink vehicles belonging to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, which claims to have the country's first law enforcement vehicles painted pink in support of those fighting any form of cancer. The vehicles are for show, not patrols. ( Read Code Pink more... )
