TxDOT Paris District continues snow removal efforts

Texas Department of Transportation Paris District will continue road clearing efforts with snow plows followed by distributing de-icing materials and sand on roadways, bridges and overpasses Friday night and into Saturday morning. The Paris District has had crews out day and night since the winter storm hit with 160 employees and 110 pieces of equipment working to keep Texas travelers safe throughout its nine counties.

This evening crews will continue to address snow on heavily-traveled roadways with focus on snow removal while also treating and re-treating with magnesium chloride to keep ice from forming. ( Read TxDOT more... )

TxDOT on the alert for more icy conditions

SAN ANTONIO -- Most roadways in the area were covered with a glaze of ice Friday morning making driving hazardous, and causing officials to shut down all the highways.

TxDOT says that no doubt kept everyone safe.

Black ice covering area roadways overnight causing dozens of accidents, including a chain reaction crash on I-10 near Vance Jackson.

TxDOT Road Conditions UPDATE

We have a new update on the TxDOT Road Conditions. As you may know the Texas Department of Transportation has been busy preparing the road conditions for Sunday’s Super Bowl. The area has been hit hard by snow and extreme weather recently so they have a hard task in their hands. The latest update says the following:

“The Texas Department of Transportation TxDOT has been working around the clock trying to improve road conditions in time for this weekend’s Super Bowl after a storm dumped ice and snow on the area. The TxDOT crews have used snow plows, de-icing trucks, and spreader boxes to try and clear the roads for commuters and travelers into the area. ( Read TxDOT more... )

Txdot Road Conditions

TxDOT officials began preparing the roads east of Texas at 7:00 pm yesterday to beat the winter weather we are facing today.

Several truckloads of sand were used in places with high traffic areas to prevent the stain spots to try to protect drivers.

TxDOT Public Information Larry Krantz said the crews were essentially working around the clock to take preventive measures to combat the winter weather. ( Read TxDOT more... )
