Islamic Socialism

Islamic Socialism Political System

A number of Muslim leaders who relate Islam and Socialism in the political system usually use the term Islamic Socialism to describe the system. They combine the principles of Socialism with the spirituality of Islam in the system. Muslim socialists consider the principles of Socialism, such as redistribution of wealth and equality, are in accordance with the teachings of Prophet Muhammad and the Holy Qur’an.

Abū Dharr al-Ghifārī, a Companion of Prophet Muḥammad, is believed as the founder of Islamic Socialism. He protested against the accumulation of wealth by the ruling class during ‘Uthmān’s caliphate and urged the equitable redistribution of wealth. A number of Orientalists also believe that there is a relationship between Islamic economics and communism, such as the idea of riba and zakat. ( Read Islamic Socialism more... )

The Tree of Islam

1- Islam had been up until the middle of the 18th century like a magnificent tree, with strong branches and verdant twigs, glowing with vigour, freshness and splendour, and bearing with abundance the most scrumptious of fruits.

The Islamic Aqeeda would be portrayed as the seed which germinated this tree, whereas the thoughts of Islam and its rules which deal with life's affairs would be the roots of this tree, while the lofty trunk which sprouted from these roots would be the rule, i.e the authority. The solid branches and the verdant twigs would be the Ummah's engagement in upholding the Islamic way of life and in carrying the Islamic Da'awa to the whole world. Egypt's Real Problem: Decades of Authoritarian Socialist Rule

There has been a huge volume of "expert" commentary on origins of the revolution in Egypt. Much of this commentary has centered on the repressive and undemocratic nature of the Mubarak regime as a root cause for discontent and as the primary instigator of the rise of radical Islam as an opposition force. And as usual, much of this supposedly expert commentary coming from our government officials and our media outlets is superficial and misleading. ( Read Islamic Socialism more... )

Pakistan: Class War On the Cards

Despite the overt reasons given for the killing of Salman Taseer by his bodyguard, it seems that what he did represents more than just his personal motivations regarding a particular law, but with the backdrop of a groundswell of frustration that permeates throughout Pakistan's working and middle classes against the rich ruling elites. Although the blasphemy laws could do with a review to ensure they are not used oppressively against minorities, there is a bigger question which the ruling elites need to ask themselves.

Consider this. A large number of the ruling elites, of literacy challenged, electricity deficient, dirty tap watered, globally in disrepute, poverty & flood stricken Pakistan are richer than the head of state (the Queen) of the developed, rich, 100% literate, electricity always-on, clean tap watered global power, Britain. And not just the Queen of England, but many of our ruling elites are richer than most of the kings and queens all over Europe, by a significant magnitude. How is this possible ? The (Sordid) Tale of Three Arab Countries

The recent regime change in Tunisia, but more to the point, the exploding unrest in Egypt has once again brought up the sordid past of Arab regimes. However, these two are certainly not isolated cases.

The dysfunctionalities of three large North African countries, Egypt, Libya and Algeria are transparent. For decades they have been the real “root causes” of the region’s many ailments: persistent inability to absorb modernity, total misunderstanding of democracy, corruption, and clearly, as a defensive crutch by a visibly dispirited population, increased Islamic fundamentalism. Contrary to what the West would expect, more women wear the veil today than 20 years ago. ( Read Islamic Socialism more... )

It appears that Arab World is passing through a transitional switch over to new world of democratic order a scientific need of the 21st century. The Arab World with its extending from Iran in Asia to Western Sahara in Africa has undergone tides and turbulences for more than 2000 years.

What is being witnessed today, thanks to the modern info technology, could not be witnessed by the world when the Arab civilizations in Babylonia, Al-Sham, Egypt and other areas were razed and destroyed.
