The body of the Manila hostage-taker, was buried on Saturday in his hometown in Tanauan City, Batangas.

Eight Hong Kong tourists were killed in the bloody event in which Philippine frces were blamed of mishangling in August 23.


Some of the mourners wept quietly as they followed the cortege of dismissed senior inspector Rolando Del Rosario Mendoza in Tanauan City in Batangas province, 85 kilometres south of Manila.



Mendoza was killed by a sniper shot in the head after police bungled the negotiations for the release of remaining Hong Kong tourists he held for a day near a historic park in Manila.



Relatives and friends said they wanted to remember Mendoza for his good deeds and not as a hostage-taker.
