Pre-crime software—Google and CIA’s latest investment

Wednesday, 25 August 2010

Pre-crime software is now a reality.

Wired reports that Google and the CIA have both invested in Recorded Future—a company that has made its mission to study the Internet and search for hidden connections and relationships between people, places and events. The company monitors the Internet in real time and then uses the gathered data to search for patterns and predict future events.
Although the CIA and Google have both invested in similar companies and projects, Wired reports this is the first time that both have invested in the same venture at the same time. The news of such monitoring and partnerships has caused an uproar on the Internet with users who fear that Google is becoming too involved with government affairs and that the venture could turn out to be an infringement on users’ rights.
