Meet Max Page, the boy in the Darth Vader commercial [Video, poll]

Max Page, the kid in the Darth Vader commercial, has been unmasked -- and he looks like Luke Skywalker? Max and his mom, Jennifer Page, hit the "Today" show to enjoy a bit of the Super Bowl Sunday limelight on Monday, without the mask.

The Darth Vader commercial for Volkswagen was 6-year-old Max's first national spot, his mom told Matt Lauer and Meredith Vieira (see the video below). Like last year's Old Spice commercial starring Isaiah Mustafa, the Darth Vader ad went up on YouTube ahead of game day; unlike that spot, the Volkswagen ad actually ran during the Super Bowl.

"It's just overwhelming," Jennifer Page said of the attention the commercial was getting, as measured in page views on YouTube. "The first night it was at 60,000 when I went to bed; woke up the next morning, it was at a million -- then my mind couldn't comprehend after that." ( Read Darth Vader Commercial more... )

It rules. Now that you're acquainted with that awesomeness, are you ready to meet the adorable, Welch's juice commercial approved, face behind the mask? It's like a cuddly, cute, happy alternative to this part of the movie. Seriously, this kid is so freaking adorable. ( Read Darth Vader Commercial more... )

Darth Vader Commercial Gets Big Thumbs-Up

(CBS) This year's batch of Super Bowl commercials is getting a round of applause from at least one media expert.

Marketing wiz Sally Hogshead, author of "Fascinate: Your 7 Triggers to Persuasion and Captivation," says the ads that aired during the big game last night were "great. This year, we saw the return to the simple, brilliant idea. The ads that won were not the ones with the flashy over-the-top special effects. And it wasn't even necessarily the ones with the glossy celebrities. This was about great ideas."

On "The Early Show," Hogshead pointed to the "Little Darth Vader" Volkswagen spot in particular. ( Read Darth Vader Commercial more... )

Darth Vader Commercial Got Cheers (but Which Ads Got Jeers?) [VIDEOS]

The Packers may have brought home the Vince Lombardi Trophy, but there was another brutal battle last night: for the title of best Super Bowl 2011 commercial.

And on the flip side, there was more than a little competition for the title of the worst.

Surge Desk collects the winners and losers of the advertising world's Super Bowl.

Let's start with the best, shall we? Volkswagen's "The Force" ad made many smile. The Washington Post's Rob Pegoraro called it a "geektastic charmer." ( Read Darth Vader Commercial more... )

Darth Vader commercial kid revealed: Max Page has never seen 'Star Wars'

Generally, acting in commercials doesn't breed much notoriety or fame... unless you're lucky enough to land a coveted Super Bowl spot. Six-year-old Max Page is the star of the Volkswagen "Darth Vader" commercial we all loved so much. He didn't even show his face in the commercial, but by Monday morning, he'd already been interviewed by The Today Show. Not bad, kid!

Little Max didn't have a whole lot to say about his commercial debuting in front of 100 million people, but he was happy to help Meredith Viera lower the window screen -- using the force, of course.

Adorable Max, when asked about his previous commercial experience, said, "I've done other commercials. A band-aid and, uh... I can't remember." Don't you just want to pinch his cheeks like an annoying old aunt? ( Read Darth Vader Commercial more... )
