The bullets Bama fans fired into their ESPNU-tuned television sets early Wednesday afternoon were, sadly, wasted ones.

Gabe Wright, who ESPN ranks as the No. 3 defensive tackle in the nation (and the No. 26 prospect overall), was not, in fact, calling out Nick Saban with the custom embroidered baseball hat he chose to signal his intentions to play for the Tigers. 6’3, 275 pound defensive tackle prospect and number three defensive tackle Gabe Wright has announced his commitment to the Auburn University. He did so after his high school teammate Isaiah Crowell unveiled his commitment to Georgia with a live bulldog puppy. His was nowhere near as cute, though it was personalized and premeditated.

Gabe Wright Has Some Mighty Big Shoes To Fill At Auburn

Gabe Wright is going to Auburn and no one is happier than head coach Gene Chizik. Chizik has had a mixed bag of emotions this past month. His team won the national title but he will be losing two of his star players to the NFL draft.

Both Cam Newton and Nick Fairley will test the NFL waters in the next few months. That gives Chizik some holes to fill.
