Chuck Tanner, Who Managed Pirates to ’79 Title, Dies
Chuck Tanner, who spent 19 seasons as a big league manager for four teams including the Pittsburgh Pirates, whom he guided to a come-from-behind World Series victory in 1979, died Friday at his home in New Castle, Pa. He was in his early 80s.

Chuck Tanner, R.I.P.
Chuck Tanner, who played in the Majors for parts of nine seasons and managed four teams over the course of nearly 20 seasons, has died.
