Federal Judge Roger Vinson Also Rules Mandatory Insurance Unconstitutional

PENSACOLA, Fla. -- In December 2010, Judge Henry E. Hudson of the Federal District Court in Richmond, Va., struck down a key provision of the health care reform law that requires Americans to obtain commercial insurance. Today, Judge Roger Vinson of the Federal District Court in Pensacola, Fla., also ruled the law unconstitutional.

President Obama's health care overhaul took what could be another judicial blow Monday when a federal judge in Florida ruled a key part of it unconstitutional.

Florida judge strikes down health overhaul

Utah Governor Gary Herbert praised a federal judge’s decision to strike down the nation’s health care overhaul, calling it "a clear win for Utah and a win for the taxpayer."

But the practical implications for states that are already enforcing early provisions of the new law are unclear.
