Pearland ISD superintendent named finalist for Waco ISD

Bonnie Cain, who has led Pearland schools as superintendent since 2000, has been named the lone finalist for the top spot at the Waco Independent School District.

Last October, Pearland school officials reached an amicable agreement with Cain that would allow her to stay on the job through June 2012. That came on the heels of a board decision not to renew Cain's unexpired contract that runs through Dec. 15, 2012.

Her annual salary for the 2010-11 school year is $214,620.40, according to district spokeswoman Renea Ivy-Sims. ( Read Pearland ISD more... )

SCHOOL CLOSINGS

HISD: HISD schools will be closed on Friday, February 4, due to expected inclement weather. Today, schools will dismiss at regular time. Parents should be aware that HISD staff will work to load buses quickly today in order to deliver children to their homes on time. Pearland ISD, Pearland Independent School District is a school district based in Pearland, Texas, USA. Pearland ISD serves most of the city of Pearland, City of Brookside Village, and unincorporated areas of Brazoria County (including Silverlake). Each zone or residential home in Pearland is zoned to an elementary school (grades PK-4), a secondary school (5-6), a junior high school (7-8), and one of two high schools (9-12).
